Team Returns to Competition for First Time Since March

posted Oct 12, 2020, 10:27 AM by BDST Administrator

For the first time since the start of the global pandemic, the Blue Dolphins Swim Team returned to the water for the first time since March hosting an Inter Squad Meet Saturday, October 10, at the Dallas Aquatic Center.

The kids swam with a lot of drive and there were many great times. Check the results I have attached and see many 10 plus seconds improvement. Many new events were done which is always a great thing to see. Special shout outs to Gentry and Vasili who officially broke a minute for the first time in the 100 free. You may note that best times fell off toward the end but when they swim 4 events in a bit over an hour it's expected.

Thanks for the well wishes from so many of you and I hope to return to coaching in the next few weeks.

2020 OSI 11-14 Age Group Championships

The Blue Dolphins at 11-14 champs in Corvallis swam very well. Our 800 free relay (Lonny Stork, Gentry Hagedorn, Kaitlyn Landis, and Sydney Alamein) set a new open record of 8:30.65. Gentry had a best time in her 100 fly. Kaitlyn swam well through her hip injury to just miss her best times in her 500 and 1650 free. Very gutsy effort on her part. I hope others will follow in that commitment!! Lonny was 3 of 5 best times (500 free - 11 second drop, 2 and 400 IMs). Just missed a best time in her 200 back by 1 one hundredth. Very good weekend for her. Sydney was 4 of 6 best times (500 free, 100 fly, 200 free and 400 IM). She set records in 13-14 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free - going under 2 minutes for the first time ) and open 100 fly. Well done to everyone and thanks to Hugh Genualdi and Matt Beasley for officiating. Thanks to all that timed. We were well recognized through every level of the meet.

At the Albany Final Countdown meet, the Blue Dolphins swam great. It included new team records by Taylor Hagedorn (4), Lonny Stork (1), Cash Hagedorn (1) and Gray Dalke (2). Congrats to these four swimmers!! These swimmers had best times in all three of their swims - Seth Allhiser, Grason Dalke, Cash Hagedorn, Taylor Hagedorn, Kaitlyn Landis, Cadin McMillian and Lonny Stork. Work is paying off. Congrats to Taylor for adding to her list of Age Group qualifying times.

Congrats to Lonny Stork, Sydney Alamein and Taylor Hagedorn for qualifying for High School State and well done to all of our high school swimmers at their district meets.

2020 Lebanon Invitational

A group of Blue Dolphins ventured over to the Lebanon Winter Invite and placed third overall at the meet. We swam very well with the following swimmers with best times in all of their events - Seth Allhiser (3-of-3), Addley Condron (4-of-4), Gabe Decker (3-for-3), and Cash Hagedorn, who went 5-for-5. These swimmers had great meets with a majority of best times - Grayson Dalke with 5-of-6, Gentry Hagedorn; who went 4-of-6, and Cadin McMillian; who was 6-of-7. We also had new team records set in the 15-18 girls 200 IM and 200 Open Medley Relay (Lonny Stork, Sydney Alamein, Gentry Hagedorn and Taylor Hagedorn). Special congrats to Grayson dropping over 10-plus seconds in the 200 fly, Cadin McMillian with a 10-plus second drop in the 200 back, and Cash Hagedorn with a 22-second drop in the 200 back - with the 200 back being the last event of the weekend. Well done to everyone who swam and we look forward to future meets with more of the Blue Dolphins attending!

2020 CAT BC Age Group Open

At the Corvallis Aquatic Team BC AG Open during the first weekend in January, we swam very well. Many best times and many really good swims for where we are in our training. Much was learned about training and how we can grow as swimmers. There were 7 team records set (Open 400 free relay - Sydney Alamein, Kaitlyn Landis, Lonny Stork and Taylor Hagedorn and Sydney set 6 in the 13-14 and Open 200 IM, 400 IM and 100 breast). Congrats to these girls! We also had some of our younger Blue Dolphins close in on our Top 5 list. Watch out for them in the future. Congrats to Sydney as she won High Point for the 13-14 girls. Quite an achievement for her and the work that group is putting in as we never do it alone.

2019 OR CB Gators IMX/IMR Challenge

The IMR/IMX meet in Canby was a wonderful opportunity to swim all the events in these USA Swimming recognition programs. We swam about 60% best times and did a great job in short times and many events. The IM's were the strength of the weekend. A great experience for all those who took up the challenge. Congrats to Grayson Keene on two new records in 9-10 100 fly and 200 IM.

2019 CAT Senior Open

The Blue Dolphins were very well represented at the Senior Open in Corvallis. Sydney, Taylor, Kaitlyn and Lonny were entered and swam great. Six team records were set and we swam about 90% best times. Great racing produced multiple finals swims, been a while to have so many final swims, and then best times again was tremendous.
